FISHERMEN

God foretold that He would call for many people from the nations to assist the Jewish people in their return to Israel. “‘I will restore them [the Jewish people] to the land which I gave to their forefathers.  Behold, I am going to send for many fishermen,’ declares the LORD, ‘and they will fish for them’” (Jeremiah 16:15-16).

Ezra International’s “fishermen” work in the former Soviet Union, Central Asia, the Middle East, and Latin America.  Our representatives are called by God to bring the Jewish people back to the land of Israel, the land He promised to their forefathers centuries ago.

Our fishermen help Jewish people making aliyah throughout the process of moving to Israel, from documenting their Jewish heritage to financing trips to the Israeli consulate to arranging transport to the airport on the day of their departure.  Throughout this process, Ezra International’s fishermen affirm the promise the Lord made long ago to the Jewish people:   “‘I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the LORD, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future’” (Jeremiah 29:11).

As Gentiles, our responsibility in these days is to come into agreement with God’s plans for the Jewish people.  When we do so, we draw closer to Him and have a deeper relationship with Him.  And we see His calling fulfilled on us, too, as He prophesied through Isaiah more than 2,500 years ago:  “See, I will beckon to the Gentiles, I will lift up my banner to the peoples; they will bring your sons in their arms and carry your daughters on their shoulders” (Isaiah 49:22).

The Lord calls forth fishermen from the churches who are willing to walk in obedience to His purpose for their lives.  As God works through the Gentiles according to His Word to restore the Jewish people to their home, the Lord is honored and His Name is lifted up among the nations.
