Time is the Enemy

Anti-Jewish slogans and graffiti are now common throughout the former Soviet states. Public billboards calling for Russia to be cleansed of the Jews are seen in many cities. People have been beaten in their own apartments and some have even been killed for just being a Jew.

The greatest enemy is time. It is only a matter of time before the doors for immigration slam shut leaving these precious people's lives hanging in the balance. There is no time to waste. We must get them out now while we can!

Will you help us?

Short Term Mission Opportunities

Become A Jeremiah 16:16 Fisherman In Ukraine

Do you have a real heart for the return of the Jewish people to the land of Israel? Do you have a deep love for the Seed of Abraham? Have you ever wished you could personally be involved in the re-gathering of God’s people back to their “Promised Land?” Have you ever had a desire to be one of the fishermen that the prophet wrote about in Jeremiah 16:16? If you answered “YES” to any of these questions then why not plan now to be a part of the next Ezra International short-term working tour to Ukraine hosted by Rev. Barry Wagner, Vice President of Ezra International.

As you travel with Barry you will experience first hand the many areas of the work and ministries being done by Ezra International in the former Soviet Union among the Jewish people. You will be involved in a feeding program of street children in Kiev. You will visit the children’s shelter and the orphanage, Father’s House that Ezra is partnering with other organizations to save as many street children as possible. You will go on several fishing trips to locate and visit with Jewish families that Ezra is presently working with. You will assist in delivering humanitarian aid to the most desperate of these people. You will meet many of Ezra’s fishermen and the Ezra staff in the Kiev and Odessa offices. You will travel by overnight train from Kiev to Odessa to meet several more Jewish families who are preparing to immigrate to Israel. During your stay in Kiev you will visit Babi Yar, the site of the massacre of thousands of Jewish people by the Nazis in 1941. You will have an opportunity to meet with several Holocaust survivors and let them know that they are not alone.

My Second Ezra Fisherman Trip

This is my second trip with Ezra and Rev. Barry Wagner to the former USSR country of Ukraine. The first trip was
to "check out" their operation with the Jewish people of that country and secondly to possibly confirm what I felt was a calling on my life from the Lord to do "something" with/for His Chosen People. Meeting with and getting to know the staff in their Kiev and Odessa offices convinced me that everyone involved in the Ezra Ministry over there was there by Divine appointment and I could do no better in my retirement years than to help them help God's people by raising the funds that are so necessary to fuel this amazing end-time ministry.

This second trip was as the Ontario Representative for Ezra Int'l; and was even more rewarding than the first. As I sit comfortably in my home in Ontario, I think back to the "Olim", the Jewish people that are in one stage or another of returning to their God-given land of Israel. I think about the poverty and persecution and the hopelessness of their current living conditions, most with no family, friends or organizational support system, and the wonderful change that awaits them upon their arrival in the Holy Land. I marvel at how, because of the faithfulness of a few, literally thousands (70,000) of them have moved from the "pit" to the "palace" that is known as the City of God.

I recall seeing the blank look of despair and despondency on their faces, and then the joy and the tears of happiness that changed their countenance as the realization of a new life of hope and dignity began to dawn upon them and become more and more real as their date of departure approached.

Yes, there are many worthwhile humanitarian organizations and causes that do wonderful work, but somehow, Ezra is different. Now in my 67th year, I am a firm believer in the "old-time" values of love, respect and courtesy. When I fell in love with my wife of 44 years, I "loved" what she loved and I "loved" doing what she loved. As Christians, we are supposed to love our God, God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. As such, I strongly believe that we should love what our God loves, and His word makes it very clear how much He loves His "Chosen People" the Jews, His chosen land, Israel, and His chosen city, Jerusalem.

His word not only makes it clear about this special love for a special people, but it even offers numerous blessings for those who will love, pray for and materially support this "nation that I have set above all nations". So, if I may be so bold, I would encourage all the readers of this newsletter to take this message to your friends, relatives, neighbors and your local churches and become activists in this cause and partner with God in helping restore His people to their covenant land of Israel. Time is running out and the doors of immigration will be closing soon. I would also encourage you to take the Jeremiah 16 "fishing" trip next year with Rev. Wagner and prepare to receive the blessing of your life.
