Ezra volunteers working to re-unite families. |
Artushenko Anatoliy, Coordinator of Ezra's Children's Work speaks: Recently we visited a family with a difficult history. The mother has had four husbands and her children have different fathers. During her second marriage she sold her apartment and wasted almost all the money on alcohol. She bought a small shed not far from Kiev. When the money was gone she realized what she'd done and started to look for a rich husband who would care for her and her kids. Every time she met someone 'good' she became pregnant and the man would then leave. Now she is alone with eight kids from different men. While she lived with these men there were many drunken parties and quarrels so that the kids began to live on the street and got involved in drugs, glue sniffing, alcohol etc. After getting to know the kids we began to work with their mother. Now she attends church. We help them with food, clothes etc, and are doing everything possible to get the kids into school.
Ezra's goal is to return as many children as possible to their families. We do this by aiding the families with practical assistance, counseling, food and financial help.
